Thread: Mass Effect

Mass Effect 2 looks awesome. So, I'm going to go get #1 and play through it, then get #2. Plainly-put man has spoken.

update: Well I bought it last night and played for about 6 hours before going to bed at 3am. Very awesome and immersing game. The manual save points are annoying though. Easy to get so immersed you forget to save and if you die... start all the fuck over. Garrrr!

I remember when I played the demo way the hell back I turned the film grain off. I like it now though. And I'm just starting to get a handle on the squad attacks. I thought they were more automated; assign a power, go into battle. They are a little bit, but I like being able to direct them as well.

Had to install to hard drive though. That cd rom searching was killing me lol.

Wow. Just finished it. What an amazing game. I'm so glad I waited until now to play it. Instead of waiting over two years for the sequal, I can just jump right out as soon as I've got the cash and get it! I may even let Gamestop rape me on some of my older games so I can pick it up this week.

This game just stepped over Fallout 3 as my all-time favorite game. Fucking amazing. I mean fallout was mind blowing, but the ambiance and storyline, including the fluid integration of the side missions, just puts this leaps ahead. In comparison Fallout feels almost plastic. No where near as emotional.

I heard they're making a Mass Effect 2, any truth to this?

Fallout was ok...felt like an Oblivion TC to me. ME is so much kickass...and roaming the random planets is fun shit. Can't wait to get ahold of ME2...

You'll be missing the random planet roaming fun shit in me2. Which is a good thing to me. I thought the Mako was fun for about 10 minutes then became a chore. It was alright in the scripted scenarios but for just roaming around looking for minerals or 1 tiny building on an entire planet was a waste of time. Does the Mako even have headlights? Its amazing that with how many planets you go to, its never once night time.

I'll take Fallout3 over Me1 any day. As far as replayability i'd even take Fo3 over Me2 though Me2 is clearly superior to Me1.

I got the mako stuck on the skyway part...wedged into a window somehow lmao...had to load a saved game :X And that sucks, kinda. I hope there's still a ton to do...combat was always my favorite aspect of the game...story was cool too though.

And yes, Fallout had more hours spent than ME1 for me, but only because of the myriad of mods for it. And there's still 2 DLC packs I haven't played for FO3 yet...

I tore through the game over the weekend (obviously), so I got the entire story kind of in concentrated form, and it's starting to defrag a bit in my brain sort of like how you pick apart and analyze a really complex movie after it's over...

It really is amazing what they managed to create with Mass Effect. You aren't just told in this linear fashion what the history leading up to this point is. You aren't even necessarily nudged towards learning it. You just explore and get it piece by piece. You get glaringly one sided recollections, obvious embelishments, that later on get disputed, even if ever so subtly. By the time you've spent 5+ hours with the game you really feel like this place is alive. There's as much regret and shame as there is triumph and hope.

I'd go so far as to call it a masterpiece, but I'll reserve that for the completion of the trilogy. I think that it will well deserve that title in the end though.

it ended a little too soon for me, and it seemed like it was going to be a little more expansive than it actually ended up being, but still, i absolutely loved this game. It's the KOTOR sequel i've been waiting for all these years, just without the Lucasarts license.
